If you’re ever in South Jersey and have at least one working taste bud, then you’ll have to make a stop at AXO Restaurant which is a Mexican and Asian fusion place to eat in Lindenwold. I heard about them on social media when they were selling food off a truck at Clemonton Park, then they were selling tacos out of a garage and now they’re rocking in their own restaurant and it’s DAMN GOOD.
I had the AXO tacos and let me tell ya, I can eat 69 wings at Hooters in one setting and finally be stuffed, or I can eat three of these monster AXO tacos that are warmed up on the grill and be filled with much better food. AXO also has a few different egg rolls and ramen with ribeye steak or Birria and that’s what had me going. They have chili oil on every table and it’s hot as an camel’s ass in the middle of a sandstorm in the summer. This had me SWEATING like I just robbed a bank and the CEO walked in. I put the chili oil in the birria ramen, so that was probably a bad idea, but I like it HOT, so there you go.
I really don’t know how else to describe this food other than saying it was just really good and if you like good food, then this is the place for you. If you like it hot, then this is for you too because that oil will make you sign a prenup before tasting it. It was legit spicy, so taste it to your liking.
Besides the birria ramen, we tried the queso fundido and the waitress said they ran out of the chorizo. My first thought was “oh f*ck, that sucks” but then she said “we can make it with shrimp” and I was like a kid on Christmas Morning. It was like sweet baby Jesus was just born and we ate some fundido with him.
On a side note, my little one was grumpy because getting hangry runs in the family, and the owner randomly came out to say hi to her, putting a little laugh on her face as we waited a few minutes for the food to arrive. There’s AWESOME people working here, really happy to support a small local business.
On a second side note, if your girlfriend leaves leftovers in the fridge and goes to work, then the leftovers are fair game. Don’t look at me funny, I don’t make the rules. I ate them as soon as she went to work and if she ever reads this, that’s when she’ll find out.
